MR. ASAD LATIF

                                 Former Visiting Research Fellow, ISEAS, Singapore

           Asad-ul Iqbal Latif is a former Visiting Research Fellow at the Institute of
           Southeast Asian Studies, Singapore, where his books include Three Sides in
           Search of a Triangle: Singapore-America-India Relations, India in the Making of
           Singapore, and Between Rising Powers: China, Singapore and India. Asad graduated
           with Honours in English from Presidency College, Calcutta, received his
           Master of Letters degree at Cambridge, where he was a Chevening Scholar,
           and was a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at Harvard. A journalist by profession, he
           worked at The Statesman in Calcutta, Asiaweek in Hong Kong, and The Business
           Times and The Straits Times in Singapore. He was a Jefferson Fellow at the East-
           West Center in Hawaii.
