Sebastian Prange is an economic historian of medieval Indian Ocean trade. His
book Monsoon Islam: Trade & Faith on the Medieval Malabar Coast (Cambridge
2018) traces the local and transoceanic networks of Muslim merchant
communities in medieval Kerala. The book has won multiple awards and been
translated into Malayalam (Other Books, 2021). He teaches at the University of
British Columbia and lives in Vancouver.
