Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA) awards Grants to suitably recognised Indian universities, colleges and associations in organising Conference ( National / International ) on themes aligning with the objectives of the ICWA mainly to promote the study of foreign policy through study, research, discussions, lectures, organizing of conferences to facilitate exchange of ideas and discuss India’s policy towards international affairs.
2. Recommended Conference themes :
- India's foreign policy.
- India's relations with its neighbours and the extended neighbourhood.
- Area studies theme based : Geo political developments in Latin America, Africa, EU, US, Eurasia, Indo-Pacific from an Indian foreign policy perspective.
- Thematic studies based : Geo political developments concerning Global Commons, Technology, International Economics, & Social Issues from an Indian foreign policy perspective.
3. A Conference Grant of upto Rs. 4 (Four) lakhs is awarded for organising a National or International Conference. The Grant is subject to adherence to following conditions:
- ICWA is accorded status of partner organisation. Prominent display of its logo and social media handles in all publicity materials of the event is made and due acknowledgement is given to the support extended by ICWA at the conference.
- The Conference proceedings are published ( hard copy as well as in e book format ) within 6(six) months of the event being organised. The copies must carry the logo of ICWA as a partner organisation and a similar citation must be made in the Conference proceedings. Two hard copies and a soft copy in form of e book is to be shared with ICWA on a complementary basis. ICWA may request for more copies if required.
- Furthermore, post event, a brief report on the Conference proceedings are to be shared by email at the earliest with captioned photographs for records.
- An ICWA representative shall participate in the Conference. The cost of local hospitality (accommodation, local transportation, meals) has to be borne by the Conference organiser. A liaison officer is also to be provided to the representative.
- An Institution will usually be eligible for Conference Grant only once in a financial year.
Application for Conference Grant: Guidelines
- Application (click here to download application form)is to be duly filled in and submitted.
- The request for Conference grant should clearly mention the speakers (both national and international), the topics for working sessions/panels, the expected number and basic details of participants, and information on whether additional funding for the said conference is also being solicited from other agencies.
- A detailed Concept paper and provisional budget under different heads is to be submitted.
- Proposals received will be scrutinised for approval by the ICWA. A minimum lead time of three months is desirable for receiving the proposal.
- The decision of the ICWA would be final and binding.
- The proposal must include a forwarding letter from the Dean or Head of the Department/ Association. Hard copy of proposal in a sealed cover marked "Conference Grant Proposal"on the top left hand corner may be submitted to:
