Call for Monograph Proposal in English
Guidelines
- ICWA’s scheme on commissioning original monograph manuscript is aimed at promoting quality research and publications in English and Hindi on various themes of foreign policy and international relations in general and India’s foreign policy in particular.
- The objective is to encourage young scholars, as also senior academics and experts to undertake research related to international affairs and Indian foreign policy that have a bearing on India’s interests.
- These monographs may be single or co-authored publications. They will be blind peer reviewed as coordinated by the Council.
- The script is expected to be at least 30,000 neatly typed words (excluding acknowledgements, bibliography and footnotes/ endnotes). A period of twelve months will usually be given to complete the monograph. The template for the monograph proposal should be similar to the Book Proposal listed at the ICWA website.
- Monograph can be area studies specific or thematic such as emerging technologies, maritime security, multilateralism, etc.
- On acceptance of a suitable proposal, financial support up to maximum of Rs. 1,50,000/- will be given to the principal author or divided equally between two or more authors, and up to Rs. 12,000/- for anonymous peer review as coordinated by the Council.
- 25% of the sanctioned amount will be given on approval of the proposal; and remaining 75% will be released on publication of the monograph. The expenditure on publication of monographs will be met by ICWA.
- The copyright of the monograph would rest with the Council. The author/s would have to sign an agreement with ICWA, once approval is granted for the proposal that the proposed monograph is not under consideration with any other institute/university /think tank. It is an original work undertaken by the author/s and is not a translated version of any other book/monograph in any other language.
