Eligibility for Membership with effect from 1st April 2023
- Consultation Membership: The Consultation Membership is open for Parliamentarians, Legislators, Academics, Diplomats, Historians, Senior Civil Servants, Journalists, Students, Subject Experts and other members of the learned society as well as general public. Valid ID and residential address proof is required to be submitted with application form duly filled in by the user to be enrolled as consultation member.
- Borrowing Membership: Students pursuing Post Graduates / M. Phil. / Ph.D. / Research Scholars in the field of international studies, social sciences or humanities are eligible to apply for library membership. They must provide a letter of recommendation from Dean / Head of Department / Research Supervisor / Principal of a recognized education institution with valid student ID cards issued by administrative officer and a residential address proof. The security deposited is refundable at the time of withdrawal of membership, without any interest, after making deduction of dues, if any, towards late return/non-return of Library books/ documents and/ or for damaging library resource.
- Referral Membership: Any person can take referral membership after producing necessary documents like valid student ID/ institutional ID/ office ID/letter of recommendation from Dean/HOD/Research Supervisor /Principal of a recognized education institution. Referral membership can be renewed only once.
- ICWA Staff Membership: All staff members including Research Scholars and Administrative Staff are entitled to become members of the Library. However, temporary or contractual employees (including those on daily wages) can also become a member only with permission of the Director General / Deputy Director General/ Joint Secretary.
- School and undergraduate students are not entitled for membership with rare exception.
- Members must carry their Library Membership ID card while visiting the Library.
- The ICWA Staff Library members must obtain “No Dues Certificate” from the Librarian before relinquishing membership or leaving the Institute due to resignation, retirement, transfer/ deputation, foreign posting etc.
- Administration and Accounts Divisions will ensure that ICWA staff submits “No Dues Certificate” from the Library, when they leave the Institute on resignation, transfer/ deputation, superannuation, etc., before settling the dues if any.
- Any violation of rule(s) may lead to cancellation/suspension of library membership.
