The ICWA Oral History Project, which earlier ran from 2010-2016, now stands revived.
The objective of the project is to cover significant events which occurred during the career of our diplomats that could contribute to the shaping of Indian Diplomatic History. The project is meant to provide inputs to historians and research scholars of Indian Diplomacy as well as serving officers of Government of India.
The resumed Oral History Project will be conducted in either of the following two formats:
It is presumed that the retired diplomats will rely on their professional acumen and their best judgement while recording these histories. As for all other publications of the Council, a review process would be mandatory.
The Project is titled Sapru House Oral History Series.
Initiative to first institute an Oral History Project at the ICWA was taken by Amb. Kishan S. Rana in 2009 who alongwith Amb. Ishrat Aziz recorded five oral histories during 2010-2016.
The booklets of the Oral Histories recorded so far are available at ICWA library, MEA Library and FSI library.
