H.E. Kevin Rudd, Member of Parliament and the Prime Minister of Australia delivered a speech on “From Fitful Engagement to Strategic Parliament” at the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA) on Thursday, November 12, 2009.

The event was presided over by Shri M.S. Gill the Hon'ble Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt.. of India.

The visit of H.E. Kevin Rudd to ICWA also coincided with the 2nd India-Australia Roundtable, co-hosted by ICWA and the Lowy Institute of International policy, Sydney.

From fitful engagement to strategic partnership

It is indeed a great honour to be here in Delhi and to have the opportunity to address such a distinguished audience on the future of Australia's relationship with India. It is also an honour that I speak to you today as a guest of the Indian Council of World Affairs which has such a rich tradition of nurturing international relations since its inception in 1943. And further to speak to you in this building whose foundation stone was laid by India's Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru in 1950. Walking into Sapru House you feel immediately
