The Indian Council of World Affairs was established in 1943 by a group of Indian intellectuals as a think tank. It was registered as a non-official, non-political and non-profit organisation under the Registration of Societies Act 1860. is ‘India Quarterly’ (A Journal of
International Affairs). It was launched
in 1945 and entered its 66th year
of publication in 2010. The responsibility
of the publication has now been given
to M/s SAGE Publications.

is available in the Indian Council
of World Affairs library. Anecdotes,
memoirs, short stories, autobiographical
accounts and relations of India
with other countries looked through
the prism of our Ambassadors are
some of the highlights of this collection.
One of India's finest and most coveted research libraries, the Indian Council of World Affairs' Library is located in the heart of New Delhi. It is well equipped on international affairs and allied streams including political history and developments in India.
The Library is a treasure trove of
more than 1,25,000 volumes of books,
some of them rare, bound periodicals,
rare maps, microfiches and about 7
lac clippings with special reference
to international relations, international
law and international economy. It
offers a congenial atmosphere with
a reader- cultured approach in a serene
and calm environment to more than
150 readers at any given time of the
day. It subscribes to about 384 research
journals of repute from National and
International leading journal publications
and houses 28 thousand periodicals
in bound form. Newspaper files of
the Hindu (Madras) from 1933
to 1979, the Times of India
(Bombay) from 1945 to1975 and
the Times of India (New Delhi)
from 1969 to 2004 are also preserved
beside stray volumes of The Asian
Age, The Economic Times,The Financial Times (London),The International Herald Tribune,
The Nation (Lahore), The
Pakistan Times and The Japan
Times (Tokyo) News.
